Burger King

The international fast food restaurant chain BK known as Burger King was founded in 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida as “Insta-Burger King.” The original founders and owners are Keith J. Kramer and his wife’s uncle Matthew Burns. Burger King is behind McDonald’s in international locations by over 12,200 stores. At end of the 2010 year which is around this time, Burger King came the second largest chain of hamburger fast food in competition of restaurant locations in the world behind McDonald’s who has 32,400 locations, Subway who has 32,000 locations and Yum! Brands who has 37,000 locations.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates, total of locations and such...)

The worst thing on the menu would have to be the BK Big Fish Sandwich, even though everyone thinks it’s a healthy choice because it says ¨fish¨ it’s really not, it has the most calories and if you add extra condiments than natural it’s even more calories than the original meal. The reason that it is not healthy anymore is because when you bread it, fry it and slather it with tartar sauce, it’s like you’re plain out just eating fat.
  • The original meal has 1080 calories, 43 g of fat (7.5 saturated), and 1680 of mg sodium and 155 carbs.
  • But if you get the BK Big Fish Sandwich by itself it has fewer calories. It contains 658 calories, 33 g fat (28 saturated), and 1,299 of mg sodium. So I guess it’s a little less than the whole meal all together.

Burger king has a special for Wednesdays, which is called “Whopper Wednesday” a tasty burger that everyone has probably eaten more than once in their life. I admit I have too. Every Wednesday Burger King is PACKED and the most common order would definitely be the Whopper.

Even though it’s not good for you at all, people don’t care because it’s just plain out delicious. 1 Whopper meal gives you 1250 calories, 57g fat (14.5 saturated), 1810 mg of sodium and 154 carbs. But people rarely look at the nutrition board to see what our body is consuming.

My opinion.. I just wouldn't eat it unless I were to work out after or at least have some sort of exercise for my body to lose the calories of it so I don't get fat :p haha, but you are what you eat!

KFC

KFC, which is short for Kentucky Fried Chicken, was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1952 even though the idea of KFC’s fried chicken goes back to 1930. The owner of the KFC brand reports in 2009 the existence of 16,264 KFC locations around the world, distributed in 108 countries.

There are around 9-10 KFC locations in Windsor only.

Whaadduuupppp bloggers! I'm pretty sure I’m getting you all hungry with my blogs but you picked to read it, it clearly says "Fast Food" so I'm not the one to take the full blame over here. :)

One of my favorite things on the menu is the Chicken Twister, I find it delicious. Even though it contains 627 calories, 34 g fat (7 saturated), and 1529 mg sodium. If you really want to eat the Chicken Twister then I suggest you go for the Grilled Chicken Twister, I guess you can say it’s the same thing, the taste is a little different, but you save half the amount of calories since the Grilled Chicken Twister only contains 421 calories, 21 grams of fat, 4.1 saturated and 1,121 milligrams of sodium. So it’s half the amount of the Chicken Twister sandwich.

There are not many healthy choices on the menu so I would recommend not eating KFC too much. Even though there’s a special every Tuesday called “Toonie Tuesday” so it doesn’t help anyone’s condition if it’s cheap and its good anyone would pay. The Toonie Tuesday has 2 pieces of chicken and fries, each piece of chicken will have about 300-400 calories and the fries another 400+ calories, so in total a meal between 800-1000 calories, 20+ grams of saturated fat, there food is high in sodium and cholesterol not from the oil but the frying of the chicken (internal fat).

Every Tuesday at lunch everyone leaves the school to KFC since it’s cheap, for Toonie Tuesday, they make it seem like it’s a holiday. But you can’t blame them, the food is just that good, can’t you agree? I sure can. (:

Subway

Subway is an American restaurant that sells only submarine sandwiches(subs), and salads and personal pizzas. It is owend and operated by Doctor’s Associates Inc. Subway is one of the fastest growing industry in the world approximately 33,556 restuarant in 92 contries/territories as of October 1, 2010 which recently passed a little over a month ago.

It is the largest single-brand, restaurant chain world wide and is the second biggest restaurant operator world wide after Yum! Brands with 35,000 locations.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates)

Subway is my favorite place to eat at, I probably eat at Subway 5 times a month considering i live a 10 minute walk away from the location on Walker road and Ottawa street. The sandwich i always get is the Chicken Teriyaki. I always get the Italian Herbs and cheese bread, toasted with everything on it, tomatoes, pickles, cucumber, lettuce, black olives, green pepper and jalapenos on half of the sandwich so it’s not too hot for me. With sub sauce mayo and mustard on it. It’s my favorite sandwich to get everytime i go there thats the one to get. They say its bout 130 calories only the Chicken in it, but adding everything else makes it go up.

But one sandwich that’s full of calories is the 12-inch MeatBall Marinara Sub. The reason not to have this, is because the fat content is high but if you do eat it you have to watch your blood pressure because this meatball-stuffed Bismarck is the winner for the sodium count at close to twice the recommended faily intakel. It containes 1.000 calories, 44g fat (20 saturated), 2.580 mg sodium which is a lot to take in for just a sub.

Boston Pizza

Boston Pizza has began in Edmonton, Alberta on August 12, 1964. Boston Pizza had 17 locations in Western, Canada by 1970. The original location was located at 5515 137 Avenue Northwest. Joe Tremblay was the first customer and is still a proud patron today. Boston Pizza has a total of 386 restaurants in North America, with 335 locations in Canada.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates)

Last time I’ve been to Boston's Pizza was during the summer of 2010 and we went in as a group of friends and bought the Bacon Double Cheeseburger Pizza. I'm sure we gained tons of calories that day considering only two large slices has 700 calories, 30g fat (saturated fat information is not offered by the restaurant) 1,300 mg sodium.

It's more like a yummy Double Disaster since just two slices piled high with ground beef, bacon, onions and double cheese. But if you want to cut that calorie in half get The Tasty Californian, with zucchini, onions, sun-dried tomatoes and Parmesan, is probably the healthiest choice. Two large slices contains 360 calories, 5 grams of fat, 700 milligrams of sodium.

Swiss Chalet

Swiss Chalet is a chain of Canadian family restaurants originally founded in 1954 in Toronto, Ontario. There are about over 200 restaurants in Canada and the United States, as of 2008.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates)
I’ve been to Swiss Chalet once in my life, and it was honestly and amazing restaurant, great service, food was actually fast and it was delicious. Even though i came out of the restaurant with a big tummy, felt like i couldn’t eat for the next few days and then everything got digested within an hour. Which is the worst part because you’ve consumed so much calories that way and then after digesting everything you’re hungry again so that’s consumming even more calories.

For exemple;

The Messy Chicken Sandwich, is actually something messy to eat you’d need a knife, a fork and plenty of napkins. This sandwich wins for the most calories out of the top 10 fatest foods in my blog. It contains 1,007 calories, 41 g fat (10 saturated), 1,320 mg sodium.

For something even better on the menu to eat choose ;
The Chicken on a Kraiser. It has 434 calories, 9 grams of fat, 3 saturated, 410 milligrams of sodium.

Wendy's

Wendy’s old fashioned hamburgers is an international fast food chain restaurant founded by Dave Thomas on November 15, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The company decided to move it’s headquartes to Dublin, Ohio, on January 29, 2006.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates)

It may seem as it could be just a plain burger from anywhere, but actually it contains about half of the calories you need consummed in your body. The Big Bacon Classic is a quarter-pound patty of beef on a kraiser topped with cheese and bacon. Bacon, cheese, even the light mayo, on this burger it adds to the calorie and fat. It containes 580 calories, 29 g fat (12 saturated) 1,330 mg sodium.

For something better on the menu pick The Classic Single with everything, it’s almost the same as The Big Bacon Classic without the bacon and cheese. Drops down 170 calories and 10 grams of fat too 410 calories, 19 grams of fat, 7 saturated, 880 milligrams of sodium. Or go the Ultimate Chicken Grill sandwich and subtract another 60 calories and 12 grams of fat too 350 calories, 7 grams of fat, 1.5 saturated 1.030 milligrams of sodium.

If you’re watching your fat and calories, try these suggested meals, each 550 calories:

  • Ultimate Chicken Grill (hold the sauce) with a Side Salad and fat-free dressing
  • Grilled Chicken Go Wrap (hold the sauce) with a small Chili
  • Large Chili with a Side Salad and fat-free dressing
  • Plain Baked Potato and a small Chili

Tim Horton's

Tim Horton’s is a Canadian coffee and donut shop that’s been founded in 1964 by hockey player himself Tim Horton. As of July 4th 2010, there are about 3,627 restaurants, in Canada only around 3,040 and 587 in the United States.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates, total of locations and such...)

Hey bloggers! You probably picked Tim Horton’s considering it's the most visited place in Windsor, maybe from where you live too!

Tim Horton’s is probably one of the most addicting fast food restaurants out there, not only is their food and drinks delicious but there is a Tim Horton on probably every corner in Windsor, Ontario. So if you pass one and thought to yourself you didn’t feel like it today, well once you reach another one you’ll change your mind for sure. I don’t think anyone can go a day without buying from Tim Horton’s if not a day then a week.

The most calories would be in the Tim Horton’s coffee double double which has 230 calories, 7 g saturated fat, 0.4 g Trans fat, 50 mg sodium (about 47.0% of fat, 45.2% of Carbs, 3.5% of protein). But honestly I think donuts and deserts and ect... at Tim Horton’s should be more of a treat than a hobby.

Harvey's

Harvey’s is the second largest Canadian established restaurant chain behind Tim Horton’s, and is the fourth largest burger chain in Canada. Harvey’s was founded by George. B. Sukomyk and Rick Mauran in early 1959. The first Harvey’s location was opened on April 1st, 1959 at the southeast corner of Yonge Street and Observatory Lane in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and associates)
One of the specialities on the menu would have to be the Big Harv with Cheese. It contains 710 calories, 37 g fat (17.4 saturated), and 1.211 mg sodium. This giant meat-stuffed sandwich itself is enough without the whole regular order of fries (382 calories, 20 grams of fat) or even worst a poutine (700 calories, 40 grams of fat).

In my defence no more than 10 percent of calories should come from saturated and Trans fats. Choose wisely, the last time I went to Harvey’s I got the Original Hamburger and I saved 350 calories and 19 grams of fat (357 calories, 18 grams of fat, seven saturated, and 1.000 milligrams of sodium). It must have been one of the tastiest burgers I’ve ever encountered in any restaurant by far.

Harvey's

¨It's a beautiful thing.¨

Pizza Hut

Their Logo and most important variety; "Pizza's".

Pizza Hut is an American restaurant chain that was founded 1958 by the brothers Dan and Frank Carney in their hometown of Wichita, Kansas. One of their friends suggested opening a Pizza Parlor so they rented a small building at 503 souths Bluff in downtown Wichita.

They chose the name "Pizza Hut" since the sign they purchased only had enough space for 9 characters and spaces.
(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and some of the information above.)

One of the speciality on the menu is called the Pepperoni lovers’ Pizza which contains 800 calories, 39 g fat (16 saturated), and 1,830 mg sodium. But for better if you cannot do without the Pepperoni as one of your toppings, go with the Pepperoni only Pizza and save 155 calories and 13 grams of fat (645 calories, 26 grams of fat, ten saturated, and 1,305 milligrams of sodium).

Everyone loves their pizza, order them pizza from which ever place it could be a clean or dirty place, and they’ll still eat the pizza. It gives fast food business owners the opportunity to make them even more delicious but then that includes even more fattening, so more calories than required. But since there no nutrition’s table on the box of the pizza or anywhere, nobody really pays any attention to how much it contains, therefore its rated second on the top 10 of the fattest fast food chains.

I personally would have never thought it would be on the top 10 most fattening fast food chains, so I definitely have learned something new about Pizza Hut. I'm not saying -DO NOT eat there, do as you please because I've eaten there before and let me tell you they make a mean pizza and juicy wings. I went for someone’s birthday so obviously like every other restaurant they give you free desert which was this awesome cinnamon cake, it’s been 3 years since I ate there and last been there, maybe things have changed maybe not. But as a first time go-were I was satisfied.

McDonald's

McDonald's restaurant was first founded in 1955 in Illinois, the first McDonald's restaurant outside of the United States opened in Richmond, British Colombia in 1967.

Every four hours a new McDonald's opens somewhere, no wonder there are over 30 000 locations in the world.

(Full credits to Wikipedia; it helped me find the information for the founders and information above)

One out of ten biggest fast food restaurants is McDonald's Double Quarter pounder with cheese. It contains 740 calories, 44 g fat (21 saturated), 1300 mg sodium. If you switch to a McDonald's Double Quarter pounder with NO cheese you subtract about 25 grams of fat. It has 420 calories, 19 grams of fat ( 8 saturated ) and 620 milligrams of sodium. You can see without the cheese made 320 calories difference.

Eating fast food is not necessarily a bad thing, but take your time when you're deciding what to order. In my defence I find McDonald's the top fast food restaurant that has the most fattening, even though it smells incredible and the taste is fantastic, which is the reason why everyone buys McDonald's in the first place, you consume way too much calories by just eating 1 meal maybe up to around 1000 something or more calories, and you only need to consume about 2000-2500 calories PER day. Maybe eating McDonald's once or twice a month is good enough but eating it once or twice a week is really bad for your health. Eating fast food is not necessarily a bad thing, but everyone should take their time when they’re deciding what to order.

The video above shows how the food reacts overtime. Over the days, weeks and months that goes by. Here are the seven experiments that he has used.

- Big Mac
-  Chicken McGrill
- Fillet-O-Fish
- Quarter Pounder
- French Fries
- Hamburger (real meat)
- French fries (regular restaurant)

As you can see after 2 weeks if you compare the French Fries, that McDonalds one looks completely just bought and the French Fries from a regular restaurant is obviously old. What’s the matter with the French Fries from McDonald’s?

Now if you compare all of the burgers, after 2 weeks they’re all starting to mould except for the Big Mac (most of everyone’s favourite burger off the menu).

Around between 3-5 weeks the Big Mac started to mould along with the other burgers. This experiment lasted up to 10 weeks until they threw them away from the nasty smell, after 10 weeks the burgers looked gross and poisoning and the McDonald French Fries ... well let’s just say they looked like it’s just been bought the day before, how long could have the French Fries lasted? I’m curious to know also.
